This is all so simple for me. It’s not a debate on opposing views – it’s a matter of good vs. evil. I guess I should restate that as a matter of better vs evil. I can have my opinions of a nominee being sexist, predatory, perverted, racist, ignorant, and on and on. I know the plan for that nominee is to nominate people of the same mindset but with more power that want to regress this country and take basic human rights away from woman, LGBTQ+, and minorities. I can have the same opinions that any decent human being has and know that they aren’t opinions but the truth. There are so many factors that come into play when it is election time. As critical as this presidential election it is, it’s also important to research, digest, and act in terms of state and local elections.
Last night Alex received a voting pamphlet in the mail and I was confused as to why I haven’t received anything yet. I registered back in August, received a form in the mail, filled it out and returned it immediately. I searched for my name in the local and national registration database and couldn’t find myself. I was beyond worried. I found out today that the reason was because I had forgotten to put my apartment number on the form I filled out. That was it. These are my concerns on that-
1. There are 6 mailboxes at our building, and each one of us has our names clearly written in our boxes. The postman could have easily looked for my name (which he has done before) and gave me the pamphlet.
2. The form I filled out had my email address on it. Someone could have quickly sent me an email to let me know that this was an issue.
3. I should have still been in the database, even though I was not sent anything. This is what really irks me.
This is how the situation played out:
I was blamed for the issue.
It was something that simple to almost have my right be taken away from me.
