Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
This will probably be the last book I have read in 2016 and I couldn’t have picked a better book for it. I’ve been wanting to read this book for a very long time, and it did not let me down. I find all the characters, the plot, the references, and the technology compelling. There is way too much description for my brain to keep interested in, but that’s how amazing the characters and the plot are. Anyone who loves geek culture or the 80’s will love this one!
Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick
I cannot tell you how excited I was to read this gem. I was so excited that I bought a ticket to see her on her book tour. (There will be a post on this later in the week) I adore these ‘memoirs’ by these women, and Anna Kendricks does not disappoint. It’s filled with harsh realities of the industry, funny & awkward moments that are so true to Anna and all of us, actually. Really worth the read.
The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon
This book tore me to pieces. It had been a really long time since I read a story with such amazing and detailed voices that literally moved me. I couldn’t sit still when reading it. The mystery is as equally moving as the characters and their relationships. The prose is beautiful and the setting is so detailed and descriptive that you feel like you are there.
Into The Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes
This is the first book I read in 2016 and whoa did it shake me. This is an extremely twisted book filled with intrigue, romance, and darkness. I suggest being in a really good place when you read it, because it is disturbing in parts and can be triggering for those who suffered from domestic abuse. It’s so significant as it shows what it is truly like when suffering from OCD, anxiety, depression, trust issues, and everything else that comes with trauma.
Austenland by Shannon Hale
This book is so me! I don’t know why it took me so long to read it, but I read it at the perfect. If you love sappy romantic novels, Jane Austen, and a loveable female protagonist…then this book is the one for you. This book filled me with so much love and joy, I never wanted to put it down. Just talking about this makes me want to read it again.
Dark Secrets 1 by Elizabeth Chandler
I’m obsessed with this series and Chandler in general. These books are filled with 2 stories in 1. They are a YA Mystery and boy do they keep you turning the page. They have strong & interesting female main characters with a crazy mystery and a cute romance.
